The large-scale fires that affected the municipalities of Castanheira de Pêra, Figueiró dos Vinhos and Pedrógão Grande in June 2017 brought serious and tragic consequences, resulting in the irreparable loss of human lives, as well as serious material damage.
The Portuguese, in a huge national effort of solidarity, sought to mitigate the property damage suffered by the populations of these municipalities, which translated into numerous donations intended for the reconstruction of homes and the lives of people affected by the fires. To this national effort was added the financial support of several international entities.
In this context, the XXI Constitutional Government decided to create REVITA, a social fund, with the aim of managing donations delivered within the scope of solidarity demonstrated, in close coordination with the municipalities of Castanheira de Pêra, Figueiró dos Vinhos and Pedrógão Grande.
This is intended to contribute to a greater efficiency in the management of the resources allocated to this Fund, in their allocation to those who need them, promoting a reinforcement of the speed in the whole process of revitalization of the affected areas.
REVITA aggregates the collection of donations in cash, in kind of movable goods or services, with a view to their full application in the revitalization of the areas affected by the fire, primarily in the reconstruction or rehabilitation of housing and its equipment.
